Polya grew up in the Soviet Union, in the north of Siberia, which used to be the home of labour camps. In that time people who professed faith openly, went to jail.
Polya didn’t even know the word bible, but when the Soviet Union started breaking up, churches started to appear.
The first bible she picked up was in Old Russian, and she couldn’t read it. So she went and bought a book and taught herself to read Old Russian so she could understand the bible better.
Something in my heart just switched.
Reading God’s Word was difficult– like it is for many of us!
At one point she thought she would never pick up the bible and read it again. But then she read the bible through Community Bible Experience. Watch her story to find out more.
