Daniel is a Nigerian speaker of Ibibio, part of a team checking how a new Bible translation sounds to native speakers.
“When I read the book of Numbers in English, I didn’t finish it. But reviewing the Ibibio translation gave me an immersive spiritual experience because of how close the language is to my own heart.
“Every word I read seemed to penetrate my spirit. I found myself praying while reading, because the Ibibio language presented the Bible’s meaning to me clearly. I understood every word.
“While working on this book, I was going through one of the most challenging times in my life as a Christian. But the Spirit of God spoke to me through Moses’ story in Numbers as he faced his own challenges. I prayed for grace and strength to continue my work, and God answered me.”
