Biblica, The International Bible Society, exists to provide the Bible in contemporary translations and formats so that more people around the world will have the opportunity to be transformed by Jesus Christ.
What we do
Biblica ministers on every major continent. We envision the Bible inspiring the global Body of Christ to be a community of hope for the world. We believe in the Great Commission and seek to share the message of salvation found only in Jesus Christ.
Biblica Europe work in three main areas to encourage and equip people to read and live the Bible well – translation & access; resourcing mission; and Bible engagement. We seek to make the Bible more accessible across languages and learning abilities, through translation, partnering with mission agencies and equipping leaders.
Why we do it
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and the most powerful book ever written. Europe has a rich Bible heritage – it’s the continent that birthed the Reformation and some of the finest expositional preachers and exegetical scholars in the world.
A high percentage of the European population identify themselves as Christian and in the UK, Bible ownership is high. But ownership and access alone do not guarantee good Bible engagement. Europe is a large, complex and rapidly changing region of the world. The need for good, accurate, and accessible translations is as great as any time in history. If our continent were to harness the power found in God’s Word, we could see real transformation individually and throughout our nations. Our translation work in the rest of Europe is widening access to quality translations year on year.
Where we work
Biblica Europe work across the continent to translate, improve access and encourage biblical engagement. We work with partners in each country to ensure that scripture is effectively understood and individuals have the opportunity to experience God’s Word for themselves. The map below gives a snapshot of our work across the region at the current time.
